From general body meetings and service to networking, travel, and social events, the Ohio Alpha chapter of Alpha Epsilon Delta strives to provide its members with a myriad of the best experiences.

See below for more information about/pictures from some of our most loved activities!
(IMPORTANT: this page is not all-inclusive!)

If you have any suggestions/ideas for an activity that you would like to see within AEΔ, don't hesitate to let a member of Exec Board know!
Suture Clinic
Representatives from the US Army came to talk about opportunities for medicine within the military and brought in suture kits for AEΔ members to practice with!
CPR Training
AEΔ sponsors all-inclusive CPR training events with professionals for members to practice their skills.
General Body Meetings
Buckeye Tutor Team
A tutoring program specific to AEΔ national members at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. We tutor on the
hematology/oncology floor and other long-term patients in the hospital. This commitment can last from time applied to the end
of your college career if you choose. This is a great way to gain experience in patient
interaction!
Physician's CareConnection
A free clinic run through and at Columbus Public Health Center. Shifts can be
filled for a slot each week or periodically. Opportunities include
registration assistant, eye exam assistant or proctor, food truck assistant, lab assistant,
clinic set up assistant, or dental clinic assistant.
Helping Hands Clinic
Volunteer opportunity at the Helping Hands Clinic in Columbus! AEΔ members apply to train and volunteer as medical scribes at the clinic. A great way to earn clinical experience and learn medical terminology!
Hot Chocolate 5K
A fun event that occurs annually in late fall/early winter. Each year AEΔ members work together on different tasks.
Some tasks include helping with registration, working start/finish
line, or handing out snacks and hot chocolate. This activity is a great way to bond with
other chapter members and you always get a free shirt or sweatshirt for volunteering!
...and many more!
Each year the AEΔ service directors work on adding in 1-time (or a few times) service
opportunities. These range from blanket making at the James Cancer Center and Schott cleanups to
volunteering at food pantries or shelters and many more! There is always room to
suggest an activity to the service directors as well if you have ideas. These are a great
way to meet other members in the club and get your volunteering hours up!
Volunteering/Service
Dine with the Docs
A chance to enjoy dinner with a healthcare professional and other AEΔ members. This is an opportunity to be in an intimate setting with a healthcare professional where you can ask any questions and have in-depth conversations. AEΔ has hosted NP, PA, MD, DO, and many other healthcare professionals. Many shadowing opportunities have come from these dinners! If you have a specific professional that you would like to see, let the networking director know and we will try to set up a dinner!
AEΔ Big/Little Program
Our AEΔ mentoring program! A student in their first few years will be paired with
a student in the latter half of their education. This gives students a chance to connect
and network within the organization.
Networking
Medical School Tours
Our chapter offers members the opportunity to tour medical school programs that are within driving distance of Ohio State. Transportation is arranged through AEΔ and all members interested will travel together. Many times, an admission representative will give the AEΔ members a tour of their facility and answer questions. In the past, tours have taken place at University of Cincinnati, University of Toledo, Case Western Reserve, and many more! If you are interested in a specific program let the networking director know and we will try to arrange a visit.
AEΔ National Convention
Every two years the national board of AEΔ hosts a National Convention. This is a trip interested members will go on together. The past two conventions have been held in Houston, Texas and Tampa, Florida. It is a great way to get more involved in AEΔ and meet senior members! Additionally, it is a chance to network with AEΔ chapters across the country and gain new ideas for our chapter of AEΔ. Fun workshops/breakouts, speakers, social events, poster sessions, and national networking opportunities are present at the convention as well!
Travel/Exposure
Medical School Admissions Directors
AEΔ brings in admissions directors from various medical schools to inform members about the application process and unique opportunities offered at their respective institutions. Last year, AEΔ was able to bring in a representative from Ross University! If you would like a representative from a specific university to come in, let a member of Exec Board know!
Medical School Interview Overview
AEΔ hosted a speaker at the OSU medical school who talked about how to succeed in the medical school interview process (whether it be traditional or MMI format)! Some great information was shared!
Princeton Review MCAT Session
AEΔ hosted a representative from the Princeton Review who offered some great MCAT tips and tricks! It was a great introduction to the MCAT for underclassmen and a calming review for upperclassmen preparing to take the exam soon!
Current Topics in the Health World
AEΔ hosts various speakers that offer valuable information on current topics in the healthcare world. Last year, AEΔ hosted a speaker who offered insights on balanced, plant-based diets! If you have a topic in mind that you would like to learn more about, please let a member of Exec Board know and they will try to arrange a speaker for it!
Guest Speakers
AEΔ Member Brunch/Lunch/Dinner
AEΔ members love food! Groups of members travel to restaurants around the Columbus Area to enjoy a meal together and socialize. Attending one of these events is a great way to connect with other members and enjoy some great food at the same time! If you have a specific restaurant that you would like to go, contact the social director and they can set that up!
...and many more!
AEΔ hopes to plan more social events within the coming year to allow members to bond with each other in ways other than career-based. Some social events in the works are a trip to Topgolf, a Jeni's ice cream run, a (possible) date party, and more!
Socials
End of the Year Banquet
The Ohio Alpha Chapter of AEΔ hosts an annual end of the year banquet to recognize the organization's accomplishments each year as well as graduating seniors! All members are invited to attend to celebrate. The coming year's Exec Board is also announced at this event.
